Yellowstone from Bozeman
Use Bozeman as your base for Yellowstone
Bozeman's airport and restaurants make it an easy home base for exploring Yellowstone National Park.
Two ways into the park
- North entrance at Gardiner: about 1.5 hours from Bozeman. It's the only entrance open to cars year-round, close to Mammoth Hot Springs and the Lamar Valley, known for wildlife.
- West entrance at West Yellowstone: about 1.75 hours through the Gallatin Canyon, the closest route to Old Faithful and the geyser basins in summer.
- Park roads and entrances change with the seasons. Check the National Park Service website for current road status before you go.
Tips for a Yellowstone day
- Leave early. Yellowstone days are long, and wildlife is most active in the morning.
- Pack lunch in the condo's full kitchen. Food options inside the park are spread out.
- Come home to a hot shower, laundry and a rooftop patio facing the Bridger Mountains.
